NEW BLOG

Change is good.

Every so often I like to mix it up a little.

So that's why from now on, I'm moving to www.sandychang.tumblr.com.

Not that you find me on here much anymore anyways...

See you there!

Today I Went to a Sales Interview.

Went to a sales interview today. This company has been at the school multiple times every year trying to pick up students with promises of valuable skills training and commission work and I've always passed by because honestly, commission sales? Give me a break. When they started advertising a guaranteed pay of $15/hour though, I thought I might as well go to the interview and see what it's about.

The three-part interview spanning an hour and a half was pretty interesting. Though there were only two other people with interviews at the same time today, I could feel the friendly competition already, especially from one middle-aged lady. Not really sure what was going on there. The product we were to promote seemed pretty decent and of high quality (a pair of scissors cut cleanly through a penny!). And though the structure of appointment settings and increasing commission seemed very promising, thank God for a critical voice in the back of my head reminding me that the view was an extremely optimistic one and extremely unlikely, especially starting out. But I was all ready to at least give it a shot when - and here's the kicker - they ask for a security deposit on your appointment demo set. Though they made it seem as reasonable as they could, the point was they were basically asking you to pay them to work there. Screw that.

I stayed and acted as if I had wanted a job, completing the third part of the interview, showed initiative and eagerness to start. And - no surprise here - I was hired and invited to begin training immediately.

Going to call them Monday, let them know that I have much better things to do with my time: unemployment.

What I Learned This Week

From Mike's Pop Music class:

1. The Who is fantastic and deserves appreciation. Never realized how hardcore they were, tackling issues that no one else had dared to sing about before. Not to mention their incorporation of modernistic avant-gard art. Love!

2. Banging on your keyboard sounds horrific. I used to do that, not really thinking about it. But now after hearing someone else do it, it sounded like she was breaking the laptop and it was most unpleasant.

From Jesse's Call of Duty:

1. Spending twelve hours to complete one mission... is not worth it.

From The Sims 3:

1. To make quick bucks, best friend the rich ones and ask them to move in with you. You can kick them out afterwards!

2. You can disable aging through the Options menu. Frig, why did I not know that before?

From Cooking:

1. When making rice, use half to two-thirds of a cup per person. One cup is way too much!

2. Soup too spicy? A few eggs will neutralize that right up.

These sure helped me out this week! What have you been learning?

Friggin' Flu.

Yes I have it. And yes it sucks but I'm not too worried about it. Just wash your hands people. If you're still terrified, swab your nose and gargle with warm salt water every day and drink lots of hot liquids. And if you already have it, for goodness sakes don't run to the nearest clinic and spread it around. Here's a little something to keep you (but mostly me) occupied.

Ever seen someone just roll out of bed and still look hot?
Of course. People aren't terrifying without their makeup. Grow up please.

You're rude, aren't you?
Right back at you.

Did you see your best friend today?

I'm self-quarantined like a good girl.

Is there a song that every time you hear it, you think of someone?
To name a few:
"Everything" by Fefe Dobson = Courtney
"Middle of Nowhere" by Hot Hot Heat = Katie (because you introduced that song to me and I love it)
"Teardrops on my Guitar" by Taylor Swift = Nic
"Love Story" by above = Tara
"I've Got A Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas = Jesse
"I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts = Mike
And so on and so forth...

Is the last person you hugged older than you?
Everyone is friggin' older than me.

Are you easy to get along with?
I don't see why not.

Is there anyone you would do anything for?
Family, friends, what would I do for you? I don't believe in senseless murders however (and yes, revenge counts).

What is currently bugging you?
Friggin' fever and chills.

Ever been kissed under fireworks?
Yeah, romantic as hell.

So the last person you kissed asks you to marry them. What do you say?
Not sure what I would say but I would let them down gently.

Have you ever fell asleep in someones arms?
Mhmm.

Does talking about sex make you uncomfortable?
No and you know what, it shouldn't. It's just got a bad rap.

Are you happier now than you were three months ago?
Sure why not.

Do you believe in love?
What is that supposed to mean? Of course people love others, it's in our nature to. If you don't you are lying to yourself and/or need serious help in understanding your emotions.

Have you ever fallen asleep while texting someone?
Can't say that I have.

Do you get along better with the same sex or opposite?
Meh, people are people.

Have you ever liked somebody and never told them?
Of course but with maturity, I realized it is a stupid thing to do.

Name something great that happened in the past week?
Went out for Halloween and had a blast.

Last person you were on the phone with for more than 20 minutes?
Friend and Florine.

Do you know anyone with such a terribly annoying voice that you can't even listen to?
Yeah but then you grow up.

Would you ever get a tattoo?
Definitely.

How many people can you trust with just about everything?
Umm a couple.

How much cash do you have on you right now?
Too little.

Are you wasting your time on someone?
No but don't prove me wrong.

So will you be sleeping on the floor tonight?
What no.

Where is the person you gave your heart to?
Next door.

Who do you talk to everyday?
A few people.

The past 72 hours have you been under the influence?
I've been under the influence of sickness. It's pretty strong.

What was the last thing you drank?
Herbal green tea with lemongrass and honey. Discovered I don't like lemongrass.

Is there someone you will never forget?
Hard to say, what with all the illnesses you are liable to catch and all. I may even forget myself. Push for more research please!

Has anything happened to you within the past month that has made you angry?
Friggin' H1N1, that's what.

Are you dating the last person you talked to?
No.

Any of your Xs are on the side of the road, what do you do?
Line up my Os. Ask better questions please.

When was the last time you wanted to punch someone in their face?
Watching Will's dad on The Fresh Prince of Bel-air: "Papa's Got A Brand New Excuse". Honestly, best episode ever.

Do you like dark or light jeans better?
Depends on what I'm wearing, obviously.

Do you think someone is thinking about you right now?
Sure, someone out there is bound to be thinking about someone else.

Will your next kiss be a mistake?
Depends

Would it hurt seeing the person you last kissed kissing someone else?
Considering as we're still dating, yes that would hurt and maybe then I will be punching faces.

Honestly, if you could go back 1 month and change something would you?
Sure why not. I'd bet on all the sports, buy stocks, make as much money as possible.

Are you excited about anything today?
Neocitran!

Do you currently have a hickey?
No thank you.

What's the longest you've ever talked on the phone?
Don't know.

Would you like to be in a relationship right now?
I'm pretty happy with the one I'm in, thanks.

Do you have any interesting tattoos/piercings?
Do ears count?

Have you ever wanted to tell someone something but didn't?
Of course.

Is there someone who makes you instantly smile when you get a call from them?
Who don't I smile for?

Was your last incoming call from the opposite sex?
Not really a big enough deal to keep in mind.

Who was the last girl you had a conversation with?
Florine.

Have you been hurt in the past two weeks?
Yes, my body contracted a virus.

E-mail Overload!

Decided it was finally time to change my e-mail address. The one I've been using was literally my third e-mail address ever, back when MSN Messenger came out (or at least since I've been aware of it). Not to mention the same old username being used across different domains... Talk about needing an update!

So tonight consisted of a MASSIVE e-mail consolidation, where I created a new account and merged all existing accounts into that one. Thank God for the wonders of Gmail in making this possible.

My only complaint? That it's just not possible to transfer one Google account to another, so it looks like I'll be stuck with "candys188" until the rest of my life - or whenever they make that possible.

The new e-mail is exported to WLM contacts and posted on Facebook for all to see. If you don't have it, I'm sorry I missed you somehow... leave a comment on this post and I'll send it to you ASAP. But it is 3:30 a.m. and I am pretty wiped.

I leave you with my blessings and with your daily dose of cuteness:

Two Halves Do Not Make A Whole

I hate it when people say how they need to be in a relationship, as if they weren't complete without being romantically attached to someone. You're so young, I want to tell them, you've got your whole life ahead of you. Why put everything on hold to look for someone now?

Relationships are overrated. The media makes sure of it. You'll be hard-pressed to find a movie or show without someone falling in love as the happy ending to whatever was the matter in the first place. Sure there are benefits to being in a relationship but there are definitely benefits to being single as well! Being in a relationship takes a lot of time and hard work, something that's not easy and certainly not all sunshine and lollipops.

So what if you're single? There's certainly nothing wrong with that and don't let anyone tell you there's something wrong with you either. It's a shame how people are so focused on their "other half" before they even try to be complete themselves.

Now don't get me wrong, I am in a committed, loving relationship right now and I'm happy where I am, but I am so glad I learned to be happy single beforehand and I know that if I'm single again I will still be happy. My plan is to get married someday - I already have vague ideas what I want - and I know it will be fantastic. But if I don't, I know for a fact that my quality of life isn't going to diminish any.

The bottom line is: you choose how to experience your own life. If you aren't happy with yourself on your own, you certainly won't be happy with someone else in the picture.

Rant done.
