Bologna

Okay, I'm cheating I know: two alphabet posts in one day... sketchy. But hey, I'm still awake and I am now hungry. So why not.

What is round, pink, and delicious on everything from sandwiches to just plain on its own? Bologna of course! Great for snacking in front of the television. I remember loving to eat them just as they are, and creating new ways to eat it too.

Like nibbling on them as if I were a mouse. Or better yet, as if I was an orphan, scourging the alleyways for some kind of nourishment to get me through the day. And behold! In a dumpster, on the ground, or given to me by some elderly old lady through her back door, there it is. Gingerly I pick it up and take bite after bite, savouring every piece. Who knows when I'll be lucky enough to have a find like this again? Surely I must save it and store it away for when I'm really hungry. But even as I reason with myself, I keep treating myself to another mouthful. And before I know it, it's all gone, leaving behind the hunger only wetted by the sudden appearance of the food. What do I do? Should I run to my corner of the world and curl up until the desire passes? Or do I venture out again in a search for more? The hunger compels me... and eventually I get up and make my way back to the refridgerator for another adventure.

Okay, so I was a weird kid. And I admit, I am still pretty weird now. But those were some good times. It's funny the things you come up with as a kid. Though I did that with bologna, I should also mention that I played that game with a lot of other foods. Makes the eating more interesting I guess, and also you crave it more. Who has a better appetite than a starving orphan?

But we don't have bologna at this house. I don't want to ask them to buy it and I would be too shy to grab a piece and eat it plain in front of the tv too. But when I get my own house and buy my own groceries, you can bet what I'm going to stock up on. That and everything else that tastes good.

Well now that we all crave bologna, sleep sounds good. Or at least a break from trying to stay awake. Oh dear...

Almost

Okay, so 2:42 a.m. is technically Friday and since I am exhausted and can't go to sleep, I might as well start this post.

Almost. Defined by Dictionary.com (such a useful site) as slightly "slightly short of or not quite accomplished." And sadly, I have come to the conclusion that this is my life. Yes, it it's true that I am short and that I'm not very accomplished, but it seems as if in all aspects of my life, "almost" is the word that describes it most.

School:
Did you get in honours? Almost.
Have you finished/started your homework? Almost.
Do you understand? Almost.
(and pretty soon) Did you get into university? Almost.

Social Life:
Did you get to go out? Almost.
Have you made some new friends? Almost.
Do you even have friends? Almost.

Real Life:
Have you been strengthening your relationship with Jesus? Almost.
Have you done really well or stuck through with anything? Almost.
Did you see/hear/smell that? Almost.
Can you reach that? Almost.
Do you even understand? Almost.

Love Life:
Almost.

It seems like the most important areas in life that I need to concentrate the most on I don't. And instead of working to strive for the best in what's really important in life, I tend to focus on the minor things. So it's my own fault really. How I can expect to succeed at things I put little effort into I don't really know. But I stand guilty as charged. Now that I kind of think about it, this is definitely a wake-up call. Whether I get up and take charge or hit snooze for another five more minutes is another story.

Alphabet Blogging

So I was bored one day, many many months ago, and was looking at random blogs (yes I am weird like that) and all of a sudden I skipped upon a mention of a new thing called “Alphabet Blogging.” Now what is this, you may ask? It’s where, every day, you blog about something that begins with a letter of the alphabet starting with ‘a’ and ending with ‘z.’ Apparently, it’s all the rage now.

So in keeping up with the current fads and fashions, I’m going to start alphabet blogging. Plus it also sounds like a neat idea. I will start tomorrow. Friday is always a good day to start things.

A New Beginning

Well to make up for not blogging for the past few months, I decided to make a new blog. Start over, so to speak. Once I get a chance I might actually take the time to make a new template and everything. Speaking of which... long weekend!!

And boy am I ever looking forward to it. This year I am taking 11 courses altogether. Six of them in this semester. I have the regular four courses at school (English, Math B, Chemistry, and Canadian History). But on top of that I have a grade 11 physics course, ontario curriculum through an online program that my dad signed me up for (in case I want to go to med school or something I guess), and I am also taking a course at MCC (Maritime Christian College) about the apostle Paul: A Heart Set Free. It's pretty cool, Brenton teaches it, and he's the same guy who spoke at eXalt, which, by the way, was amazing. I am so cherishing my Three Season Ant t-shirt that I got. It's going to be handed down for generations to come.

So yeah, that's pretty much my life in a nutshell. School, work, and boring. October was nice because we had tonnes of long weekends. And long weekends = social life.

YES.
